VitaPurity L-Tryptophan helps promote feelings of well-being, calm, security, relaxation and confidence. L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that our brains must have in order to make serotonin. With normal or slightly elevated levels of serotonin in our brains we feel better, we are more relaxed, and we sleep longer and deeper. Too little serotonin and we become tense, angry, fearful and anxious along with a host of other ills which can lead to depression and worse.(1) (2)

Did you know that of all the serotonin produced by our bodies only 2% is produced in our brains? That's right, just 2%! No wonder we are irritable and can't get to sleep.

VitaPurity L-Tryptophan helps to reduce or eliminate fear, anger, tension, aggression, violence, obsessive compulsive actions [OCD], anxiety, premenstrual syndrome [PMS] and occasional trouble sleeping.

L-Tryptophan: A Breakthrough Discovery

Sir Frederick Gowland Hopkins is the man responsible for the discovery of L-Tryptophan. While doing research in 1901 Hopkins, working with Cambridge student S.W. Cole, discovered tryptophan, an extremely important essential amino acid that he showed was absolutely essential to sustain life. A few years later (1906 - 1907), he demonstrated that tryptophan, and certain other amino acids, could not be manufactured in the body from other nutrients but had to be supplied in the diet.

Sir Frederick Hopkins received the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 1929.

While researching the action of specific drugs which are effective in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine found that around 40% of OCD patients received little or no benefit from these drugs.

In those patients who did not respond to an anti-OCD medication or whose response was inadequate, Stanford researchers wrote, "...the clinician can consider adding...L-tryptophan 2 gm twice daily [that's equivalent to just four (4) capsules of VitaPurity L-Tryptophan!], plus pindolol 2.5 mg three times daily, plus niacinamide 500 mg daily. One starts with a small dose and increases the dose weekly to the likely therapeutic range, as necessary and as tolerated. Response should be evident within two weeks at a given dose..."

Sandhya Pruthi, a Mayo Clinic Internist recommends taking L-Tryptophan to help ease the discomfort associated with very intense forms of Premenstrual Syndrome.

Pruthi states that, "Treatment of {an intense form of PMS} is directed at preventing or minimizing symptoms and may include...Herbal remedies. Clinical trials suggest that L-tryptophan...may reduce irritability, mood swings, anger and headaches associated with {it}..."

Pruthi also recommends regular exercise, cutting back on caffeine and taking 1,000 milligrams of calcium daily along with vitamin B-6 and magnesium.

Have you noticed that people who are depressed often crave certain foods? They may not know it but they are unconsciously attempting to help their brains make more serotonin so they can feel better. VitaPurity L-Tryptophan is a great alternative to foods which are low in L-Tryptophan and to antidepressant drugs which are hard on our immune systems. VitaPurity L-Tryptophan can help you relax and improve your mood.

A Prescription is Still Required in Some Countries

L-Tryptophan is so effective that it is still classified as a medication in several countries. Even our friends to the north in Canada have to get a prescription from their doctor before being able to take L-Tryptophan.

Take a look at the following direct quote taken from WebMD on September 16, 2012 titled "L-Tryptophan Oral Uses":

"{L-Tryptophan} is usually used with other medicines. It works to make the mood more stable and reduce extremes in behavior by restoring the balance of certain natural substances (serotonin, melatonin) in the brain. Tryptophan is a natural substance (amino acid) found in high-protein foods and milk...

...Use it regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day."

For those of us fortunate enough to be living in the United States or in those countries where VitaPurity L-Tryptophan is available over-the-counter we can take full advantage of its soothing effectiveness right now and without a prescription.
